CAREER JOURNEY
Since I can remember, hockey has always been my passion and my goal has been to play professional hockey. Growing Up in Southern Illinois, our family had limited financial resources and the nearest rink was an hour South of us, making it difficult to play the game. Still, my parents managed to find a way to get us on the ice with skating lessons, and eventually enrolled us in the SEMO (Southeast Missouri) hockey program. Even though it was tough and we were always a part of the equipment rental program because we couldn't afford to buy our own stuff, my parents made it work. However, at the age of 9, they couldn't continue to dedicate the financial resources or time necessary to keep us enrolled and playing. So we had no other choice but to turn to the next best thing, our local Inline Hockey rink and league, where my Dad and Uncle helped us develop. From the age of 9 until 14, I flourished as an inline hockey player in hopes that one day I would have the opportunity to get back on the ice. Finally, at 15, we were able to move closer to the St. Louis area and I began playing ice hockey again as a Sophomore in high school, where I had to essentially start from scratch again. I worked extremely hard my first year back on the ice, and things seemed to be panning out great. Then, in the middle of my Junior year, my father passed away. This put me in a dark place initially, but I promised to him that I would fulfill the dream and journey we started and that I would one day play professional hockey. I busted my ass, eventually became one of our captains, and earned a scholarship to play collegiate hockey at McKendree University (ACHA). Since I didn't have a resume of playing travel or junior hockey, I was once again put in a position where I had to work my ass off and prove myself to the coaches to eventually get playing time and earn the respect of my teammates as a leader. During my time at McKendree University our phenomenal group won 2 MACHA Conference Championships and I eventually became one of our captains there as well. Upon graduating, I had no contacts in the professional hockey world, but looked at it as just another challenge to conquer. I trained extremely hard, and attended several Professional Free Agent Showcases in hopes to fulfill my dream. Although I was offered an opportunity to play Single A Professional Hockey in the SPHL, at that time, I needed to support myself and family financially. In doing so, I had to begin a career outside of hockey, but promised that I would stay sharp, continue to train, and one day return to play the game professionally to fulfill my promise to myself and my family. I've continuously competed with top-tier competition in certified USA Hockey Gold Level Leagues, and can't wait to continue pursuing my goals from the past.
